Yes, Feminist Porn is Real — Here’s How to Find It

Heads up: you’ll likely encounter a paywall, and that’s perfectly fine.

In a prior article, I shared how I turned to adult films to explore my own sexuality. While crafting a book featuring two women in love, I leaned on porn to create authentic intimate scenes, despite having no personal experience in that area. One commenter, who seemed to have only skimmed the introduction rather than reading the entire piece, mockingly questioned my belief that porn could teach me anything about realistic sex.

My initial reaction was defensive. Surely, there are types of porn that portray genuine sexual experiences! However, I realized that I was conflating the realistic sex I sought with what I thought of as feminist porn. While it’s true there exists adult content that showcases consensual, sex-positive encounters without catering to the male gaze, that doesn’t automatically classify it as feminist porn.

To truly support feminist porn, it’s crucial to pay for it. I hadn’t been doing that, and I acknowledge my mistake.

If we genuinely care about the performers featured in the videos we consume—ensuring they are safe, cared for, and justly compensated—we must invest in our porn. Accessing free content from various “tube” sites often means we are viewing stolen material. We have no insight into how it was produced, how the performers were treated, or whether they received fair compensation for their work. Most likely, they aren’t benefiting from our unpaid views.

Not only are these platforms rife with stolen material, but sites like Porn Hub also host deeply troubling content, including instances of child sex trafficking and abuse. Until these platforms address these serious issues and ensure that performers receive fair compensation from the content they host, we should avoid them.

With that understanding in mind, here are my top 10 recommendations for discovering enticing feminist porn that respects ethical boundaries. Fair warning, none of the links provided are workplace-friendly.

  1. The Indie Porn Revolution
Launched in 2002 under the name “NoFauxxx.com,” this platform aims to create a space for “ladies, artists, and queers” to produce the kind of adult content they wish existed. Membership options range from five days to multi-month subscriptions, featuring a variety of genres, including queer BDSM and ballet.
  2. Pink Label TV
A glance at their website reveals a diverse range of offerings, including a notable collection of free feminist porn, an erotic education section, and a feature titled “The Feminist Porn Gaze.”
  3. Literotica.com
This is the only completely free resource on the list. If, like me, a well-written X-rated story excites you, explore this collection of free narratives. All submissions are vetted for quality, and you can filter by interest.
  4. Bright Desire
Promoting itself as a “celebration of sex,” this award-winning site emphasizes intimacy, laughter, connection, and genuine pleasure, with a mix of real couples and fantasy scenarios. Membership is available in 30-day or 90-day increments.
  5. XConfessions
Run by Erica Lust, this indie porn site transforms user confessions and fantasies into films. Subscribe monthly for access to their diverse catalog of 250 films, ensuring that performers are treated ethically.
  6. Good Dyke Porn
For fans of vagina-vagina action, this inclusive, queer-owned site offers a variety of content for just $9.99 a month. “We are real dykes, who identify as lesbian, queer, bisexual, transgender, butch, femme, in-between, shy, exhibitionist, dominatrix, submissive, and more.”
  7. Dane Jones
Somewhat more mainstream, this site aims for a romantic and sensual focus on female pleasure. It offers both free content and a monthly subscription.
  8. A Four Chambered Heart
For those who appreciate artistic adult content, this stunning site defies typical porn expectations with beautiful erotic stills and films. There’s also free content available, and their transparency statement is impressive.
  9. Crash Pad Series
Part of Pink and White Productions, the Crash Pad Series offers queer-friendly adult entertainment that reflects the complexities of modern gender and fluid sexuality. They have a subscription option with referral discounts.
  10. OnlyFans
To support performers directly, consider subscribing to their OnlyFans accounts. While exploitation can still occur, the platform includes identity verification to help minimize risks. Show your support by financially backing your favorite performers.
  11. Sssh.com
Sssh.com is a trailblazer in ethical porn, advocating for female pleasure with narratives that feature character development. They actively gather user feedback to shape future content, and offer a range of adult education resources. Their commitment to treating all involved with respect is commendable.

This isn’t an exhaustive list, but the takeaway is clear: many of us enjoy adult content, and there’s no shame in that. However, if we are benefiting from the labor of others, it’s essential to ensure they are compensated fairly. Otherwise, we cannot truly call ourselves feminists.
