home insemination kits with syringes
When you’re a parent of teens who live and breathe TikTok, it’s hard to escape the buzz about the latest trends—especially when they’re all talking about a viral recipe that you haven’t tried yet. My three kids are totally obsessed with TikTok; sometimes, I feel like they’re quoting influencers more than actual people!
Recently, I was scrolling through TikTok for dinner ideas, knowing full well that if I say, “I found this on TikTok,” they’ll be all in. That’s when my daughter introduced me to the Honeycomb pasta recipe. It seemed like a surefire hit: it looks impressive like a pasta cake, and honestly, what could go wrong with cheese, pasta, sauce, and meat?
I had the Springform pan needed for the pasta cake, so I added a few missing ingredients to my shopping list, and just like that, our Friday night dinner plans were set. No more pizza debates!
The dish involves layering sauce, meat, cheese, and pasta, but there’s a fun twist. After coating the bottom of your Springform pan with sauce and meat, you stand your boiled rigatoni upright around the pan and fill it with mozzarella. Some people used fresh mozzarella (which I went with), while others opted for cheese sticks—if only I could keep those in the house!
When I shared the video with my son, he exclaimed it would be “too much cheese,” and at that moment, I questioned if he was really mine. Seriously, is there such a thing as too much cheese?
After stuffing the rigatoni, you add more sauce, meat, and cheese, then bake it until it’s all bubbly and delicious. The feedback on this dish is quite mixed, but if you’re considering giving it a shot, here’s what I think:
Pros:
- Honeycomb pasta is relatively affordable, and you might already have some of the ingredients.
- It looks impressive if you can get it to come out properly.
- It tastes amazing, and my whole family enjoyed it.
Cons:
- My back is still sore from the effort it took to assemble this pasta cake. Getting the rigatoni to stand up like that may look easy on TikTok, but I lost my patience pretty quickly. It felt like playing dominos; every time I got one up, another would fall. Plus, some of the pasta was flat, making it a challenge to stuff the cheese inside.
Even though I adore cheese, I’m not keen on spending my time stuffing little tubes of pasta again. I muttered things like, “I don’t want to do this,” and “I need a massage,” but as the mother, I guess I’m invisible.
Despite my enthusiasm, when it came time to reveal my creation, the pasta started to fall apart once I removed the Springform pan. My son asked why I didn’t just mix everything and put it in a regular pan since he was going to mash it all together anyway.
After all that effort, my back and shoulders were aching so badly from bending over to inject cheese into the pasta that I struggled to find a comfortable position in bed that night. I even had to retrieve my massager—only to discover it wasn’t charged, and I ended up cursing those rigatonis.
Was it delicious? Absolutely. It’s the ultimate comfort food, especially with garlic bread on the side. We had leftovers the next night, and they were just as tasty.
But is Honeycomb pasta worth the hype? I’d say no, unless it turns out perfectly and you get a lot of praise for your beautiful Italian dish—something I didn’t receive from my three teens. Honestly, after dinner, I just tossed the leftovers into a container, and suddenly all my hard work turned into regular baked ziti.
If you want the flavor of honeycomb pasta, I suggest making baked ziti with extra mozzarella instead. If you’re feeling adventurous, go ahead and try it, but keep some Advil nearby, and ensure your massager is fully charged because you’re going to need it.

Summary:
The viral Honeycomb pasta recipe from TikTok may look impressive and taste great, but the effort required to assemble it might not be worth the hype. While it’s a fun dish to try, you might find it easier and just as delicious to stick to classic baked ziti.
