American football has been played for over 150 years, tracing its roots back to the 1869 game between Rutgers and Princeton—considered the first competitive match.

That was still five decades before the NFL (National Football League) was founded in 1920. Each NFL season features 256 games played between teams in the AFC and NFC. And did you know the first NFL draft was in 1936? The top pick was a player named Tom Richards.
