San Francisco boasts one of the highest vaccination rates in the nation, with approximately 75% of residents fully vaccinated. Despite the rise of the delta variant, Mayor Jenna Williams reported only six hospitalizations among vaccinated individuals since December, out of a total of 1,800 hospitalizations. Furthermore, all city employees are now required to be vaccinated, following the announcement from the state’s governor that mandates vaccination for all state employees as well.
Despite these efforts, the city has recently seen a spike in COVID-19 cases. Last month, the average was around 10 cases per day, but this week that number has surged to 139 cases daily.
