Amanda Kloots, the co-host of The Talk and a former contestant on Dancing with the Stars, is bringing her deeply personal story to the silver screen. Her memoir, which recounts the heartbreaking loss of her husband, Nick Cordero, to COVID-19, was published in June 2021. Now, producers Denise Di Novi and Margaret French Isaac, known for their work on films like Little Women and Edward Scissorhands, are moving forward with an adaptation of the book into a feature film.
Deadline reports that Kloots, alongside her sister Anna Kloots, a Paris-based author and entrepreneur who co-authored Live Your Life: My Story of Loving and Losing Nick Cordero, will be writing the screenplay.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Kloots expressed her gratitude: “Anna and I are incredibly thankful to Denise and Margaret for this opportunity to share our story through film. We’re thrilled to collaborate again on this screenplay, transforming my memoir into a cinematic experience. Your faith in us and your support for women is invaluable.”
Kloots began sharing updates about Cordero’s COVID-19 journey on social media in April 2020. His struggle lasted three months, during which he encountered numerous complications while on a ventilator. Tragically, he passed away in July 2020 at just 41 years old. Reflecting on that challenging period, Anna shared on Instagram: “Those three months were filled with tragedy, fear, and profound sadness, but they also brought moments of hope and beauty. We learned about the power of community and love during that time, which changed our perspectives forever.”
Anna continued, “I was honored to help my sister turn this painful experience into a memoir with Harper Books last year, and I’m now immensely grateful to the talented women at Di Novi Pictures for bringing Live Your Life to the big screen.”
Amid her busy life—co-hosting The Talk, competing on Dancing with the Stars, running her own fitness company, and managing a clothing brand in partnership with her sister—Kloots is also focused on raising her two-year-old son, Elvis.
Sharing her excitement about the film, Kloots said on Instagram, “The best way to keep someone’s memory alive is to speak their name, tell their stories, and share their art and music!”
