Meet Kelly Fairchild

Before her current role, Kelly dedicated eight years to writing for Jezebel.com, where she was the voice behind the popular Royal Tea column (yes, that’s Hampton Court Palace you see in her photo!) and served as a senior editor overseeing articles on literature, history, and cultural topics. During her extensive time there, she explored subjects ranging from romance novels and body image to HGTV and American consumer culture. One particularly bizarre post about how medieval individuals walked went viral, leaving her puzzled about its popularity. Kelly began her writing journey at Inc. Magazine and The New York Observer, and her work has appeared in Dwell and Curbed, among others.

A proud graduate of Harvard University, she spent her childhood in Georgia, nestled between a river and a railroad, and has an astonishing number of tales from her swampy upbringing. Currently, she resides in New York with her husband, their kindergarten-age daughter (still shocked at how fast she’s grown), and an enormous, somewhat grumpy cat who keeps her company while she writes, often grumbling at birds. Kelly has a plethora of questions about the world-building in Paw Patrol and frequently visits the local library in hopes of introducing her daughter to the enchanting realm of sword-and-sorcery fantasy novels, a mission that’s going delightfully well.
