6 Fantasy Summer Camps Every Mom Deserves
As a child, my summer days revolved around a simple directive from my parents: “Go outside and play.” However, in today’s world, that laissez-faire approach can feel impossible. If I were to let my kids roam free, they would undoubtedly drive me up the wall, leaving me unable to accomplish anything productive. Instead, I’ve taken it upon myself to create meticulously planned schedules and invest significant funds—yes, thousands of dollars—into summer activities that hopefully keep my children engaged and allow me a semblance of peace during those long, sweltering months.
The array of options available is astounding: art, swimming, gardening, martial arts, and even Irish dancing. While I genuinely wish for my children to thrive in diverse experiences, I often ponder: where are the programs that cater to my needs as a parent? Sure, a macaroni necklace is charming, but let’s be real.
That’s when I conceived the idea of Fantasy Camps, designed not only for children but also to provide a much-needed break for parents. I’m generously sharing this concept for FREE to anyone eager to help turn this vision into reality, as long as I can secure two spots for my own kids.
1. Yes, Mom
This week-long camp focuses on instilling the two most vital words every parent longs to hear: “Yes, Mom.” Children will be penalized for using phrases like “in a minute” or “but I did it last time.” Given its popularity, early registration is essential!
CAMP NOTES: Healthy snacks will be provided. Any complaints will be redirected to the next-door camp, Shut Up and Eat It.
2. Shut Up and Eat It
After a demanding week, your child will return with a newfound respect for the effort behind every meal. They will learn about grocery lists, parking lot challenges, and the art of meal presentation.
CAMP MOTTO: “It’s hot, it’s here, someone else prepared it, so Shut Up and Eat It.”
CAMP NOTES: Pre-requisite suggested: Don’t You Roll Your Eyes at Me.
3. Don’t You Roll Your Eyes at Me
This interactive camp teaches the significance of non-verbal communication. An extended day option covers eye-rolling, muttering, and other dismissive behaviors.
CAMP NOTES: Campers not making progress may be reassigned to Yes, Mom.
4. Bathroom Skills 101
This comprehensive two-week course covers essential bathroom etiquette, including changing toilet paper rolls, rinsing toothpaste, and the proper use of bath mats.
CAMP NOTES: A 10% discount is available for campers enrolled in both Yes, Mom and Don’t You Roll Your Eyes at Me.
5. Don’t Step Over It; PICK IT UP!
This enlightening camp teaches children that their belongings won’t magically disappear. Through engaging activities, they will learn to tackle everyday messes, from laundry to spilled snacks.
CAMP NOTES: Due to its challenging nature, registration fills quickly; reserve a spot for when your child needs a strong incentive to comply.
6. Be Nice to Your Sibling
Essentially a week of informal mediation, consider this camp a creative form of babysitting.
CAMP NOTES: Good luck with that!
