The Thanksgiving Project of 2014

Hey there! So, let’s chat about the 2014 Thanksgiving Project. It all started three years ago with just a few families who reached out, admitting they were struggling to afford Thanksgiving dinners. A small group of moms recognized their struggles and offered to lend a hand. It wasn’t about changing the world; it was about making a difference for just one family. And guess what? That’s when the magic really began!

More families shared their challenges, and even more generous souls stepped up to help out, donating everything from a dollar to a few hundred. As a result, over four hundred families got to enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner they would have otherwise missed. This led to the creation of Scary Mommy Nation, which is now a registered charity.

Every day, this community showcases a wide range of perspectives from mothers everywhere. Despite our differences, one thing unites us: the deep love we have for our kids. And what could be more instinctively maternal than wanting to care for and provide for our families? That’s the heart of the Thanksgiving Project. Our shared experiences, especially the challenges we face for our children’s well-being, connect us all. To date, more than 4,500 families have benefited, and last year, we received 2,765 applications and were able to assist every single one.

Welcome to the 2014 Thanksgiving Project!

If you could use some support this holiday season, make sure to check out the application link (just a heads up, applications closed on 11/1). If you’re into blogging or social media, please help us spread the word! And if you know any businesses looking for good karma and some exposure, point them our way.

If you’re able to help out a struggling family, consider donating. Just fifty dollars can cover an entire dinner, but any amount is appreciated and can be combined with other donors to make a bigger impact. You can also send checks to our PO Box if that’s more your style.

Exciting News!

And here’s a fun way to treat yourself while doing some good! On November 17, just in time for the holiday season, an e-book titled “The Guide to Surviving the Holidays” will be released. A portion of the proceeds will support the Thanksgiving Project. Plus, it features fantastic voices you know and love.

Meet the contributors: Alex Turner, Jamie Smith, Mia Johnson, and a whole lot more! This impressive lineup will make the e-book a worthwhile purchase at only $2.99. Pre-order it from your favorite retailer, and it’ll show up on your device on November 17—perfect for gifting yourself!

Thanks for supporting the Thanksgiving Project in whatever way you can!
