The Top 10 Silliest Things I’ve Said to My Little Ones
You know, ever since I became a parent, I’ve found myself saying some of the most absurd things. It’s like you turn into a walking contradiction, spewing out ridiculous questions and nonsensical statements. Sometimes, I’ll say something and then think, “What was I even talking about?” Here are a few gems I’ve shared with my toddlers lately:
- “If you don’t put on your shoes, I’m leaving without you.” Let’s be real—where on earth could I possibly go without them? The backyard? The garage? Not exactly a vacation spot.
- “Do you want me to spank you?” Seriously, how often do kids actually say “yes” to this?
- “If you don’t clean up that mess, you’re going straight to bed.” At two in the afternoon? I don’t think so!
- “If you keep this up, I’ll turn this car around and we’ll go home.” This threat only comes out on days we have appointments or errands—like the doctor or the bank.
- “You have 30 seconds to clean up those toys, or I’m throwing them all away.” Let’s be honest, tossing out all those toys is way too much work. I have zero interest in doing that.
- “If you don’t eat, I’m not giving you any more dinner.” Yeah, that makes no sense at all.
- “I’m going to count to three, and you better stop, or else.” Yeah, even I have no idea what “or else” means.
- “Are you trying to make me mad?” Come on! My toddlers are just being toddlers—they’re not plotting against me.
- “If you don’t start listening, I’m going to stop talking.” Quite the paradox, huh?
- “If you keep playing with your food, I’m taking it away.” Honestly, if they’re not eating, they probably just aren’t hungry.
I guess I’ll need to up my game as they grow older and realize they have all the power. But for now, they’ve got 30 seconds—or else…
