25 Reasons My Toddler Can’t Stop Changing Her Outfit
Karma has a funny way of making itself known, especially when it comes to my daughter and her obsession with a particular purple dress she wears almost daily. I guess it’s payback for my childhood days when I was a bit too picky about my outfits. My grandmother once told my mom, “I would never let a two-year-old dictate what she wears.” Oh, how naive I was! Now, I know all too well that my little one has strong opinions and will go on and on if she’s put in something she doesn’t like. For instance, there was a time she held her cardigan closed for hours because she didn’t want anyone to see the “too straight” shirt underneath.
Here are some of the other hilarious reasons my three-year-old insists on changing clothes constantly:
- There’s a bone on it. (I mean, a bow)
- A friend once borrowed that sweatshirt, so now it’s too hot.
- These pants aren’t jumping high enough for her.
- This coat tickles her neck when she swallows.
- She forgot jeans don’t work for her legs today.
- Halloween shirts are just too scary.
- These tights are choking her feet.
- Her brother breathed on her and ruined the vibe.
- She remembers there was a tag on this shirt, and even though it’s been cut out, the bad memories linger.
- These shoes just aren’t “dancy” enough.
- This dress feels sad to her.
- She got a stamp at gymnastics, so now she can’t wear clothes that might touch it.
- Her brother said she doesn’t look like a superhero in this outfit.
- The owl on her pajamas was staring at her from the bed.
- She simply can’t remember why she liked that outfit.
- The purtle isn’t purtle enough, the sparkles aren’t sparkling, and the stripes aren’t stripy enough.
- There’s a single drop of water on it.
- She saw a picture of herself in her favorite dress and now insists on wearing it because it’s been “too long.”
- The bottom of this piece is just “crazy.”
- Her socks are too heavy for her shoes.
- There must’ve been a mix-up; she clearly said she wanted a “princess party dress.”
- There’s a hole in it (which, spoiler alert, there isn’t).
- This shirt lives in the drawer all the time (and it does).
- It won’t go on in the right direction (but it will).
- That elastic waistband is just hurting her feelings.
