20 Reasons I Want to Have a Meltdown
As a mom of a 2.5-year-old and a 19-month-old, I’m deep in the chaos of what I like to call Meltdown Central. The outbursts vary from soft whimpers to full-blown raging rhino charges. It’s just part of life right now—and I know one day, this phase will be behind us. Thank goodness for that! But if adults could throw tantrums without judgment, here are some reasons I’d be kicking, screaming, and flailing about:
- My coffee never stays hot long enough.
- My attempt at a smoky eye? More like I was in a bar fight with a raccoon.
- I really don’t feel like shaving my legs.
- Wait, I have to feed everyone again?
- There’s a hole in my yoga pants that I can’t ignore anymore.
- We’re completely out of whiskey.
- I really don’t want to see your block tower for the hundredth time.
- Magic erasers? More like mildly effective.
- I definitely put matching socks in the wash—where on earth did they disappear to?
- Can’t I just have a private moment in the restroom without it being a public event?
- I showed my stylist my hair goals, and I don’t look like my celebrity crush.
- No, I do not want to share my cake with anyone!
- Dirty clothes go in the hamper! Not next to it, under it, or behind it—IN the hamper!
- Who devoured the last of the ice cream? Seriously!
- Why does my house always smell like pee?
- How is it that every fork in our house is dirty by noon?
- I just washed this shirt, and now it’s being used as a tissue!
- That was my lipstick, not a marker!
- I put you to bed an hour ago! Why are you still awake?
- Seriously, how is bedtime still happening at this hour?
