7 Things I Already Know About My Parenting Journey, Thanks!

Parenting is a wild ride, and just like it’s generally not cool to comment on a pregnant person’s size, it’s also pretty rare for unsolicited parenting advice to hit the mark. Believe it or not, most parents are acutely aware of their kiddos’ antics, and when someone decides to chime in, it often falls flat. After five years of navigating this parenting gig, here’s my personal list of seven things I’m already well aware of—and trust me, I don’t need anyone else’s input.

  1. No Socks for the Baby: Yup, my little one is sockless in the cold. I’ve tried multiple times to get those socks on, but they just end up on the floor. Duct tape? Tried that too, and let’s just say, it didn’t go over well.
  2. I’m a Walking Mess: When I step out, there’s a solid chance I’m sporting random items on my clothes—stickers, Nutella smudges, and possibly a Cheerio or two. I get it, I’m a mess. Unless you think that Nutella is actually poop—then I’d like a heads up on that!
  3. Yes, I Have More Than Two Kids: Oh, three little ones? You bet! My hands are full, and I’m fully aware of it. Thanks for the reminder, though.
  4. Time Flies: Trust me, I get it. Every moment is fleeting, and I know one day my kids will be off living their own lives. But when my toddler is throwing a fit in the parking lot, I’m not exactly in a reflective mood about how precious this time is.
  5. Snack Choices: I know graham crackers aren’t the healthiest for my baby. But since I can’t seem to master breastfeeding while jogging, I need to keep him occupied in the stroller to maintain my sanity.
  6. Playground Disagreements: Yes, I see the showdown over the slide. I promise I’m not ignoring it. Kids can often figure things out on their own—no need for us to step in.
  7. Fashion Choices: Who made you the fashion police? If my daughter wants to rock leopard-print pajamas to the library, that’s on her. Today’s battle was over boots, and she won.

So, here’s the deal: unless you’re ready to say something like, “You’re doing an awesome job!”—let’s keep the comments to ourselves.
