The Ultimate Guide to Valid Reasons for an Early School Pickup
Hey there, kiddos!
Every week, it seems like at least one of you is texting me, asking for an early ride home from school. Your excuses range from feeling unwell to just not enjoying your day. I know I’ve laid out the guidelines for when it’s okay to leave early, but there seems to be some confusion. So, I’ve put together this friendly reminder of what really warrants an early pickup. Let’s break it down:
- Blood – We’re talking about a serious situation here—gushing, life-threatening blood. If a couple of Band-Aids will do the trick, don’t even think about calling me. You’ll need to be in an ambulance for me to come to your rescue.
- Cuts – Not just any scratch. If something is stuck in you and it’s bigger than your hand, give me a ring. Otherwise, a little scrape isn’t going to cut it (pun intended).
- Puking – If you’re drenched in vomit or just painted the floor with it in front of a teacher, I’ll be there. But let’s be honest, I know you’re not suddenly proficient in projectile vomiting at school, so don’t even think about it.
- Headaches – Unless your head is literally split in two or there’s a nail sticking out of it, you’re staying put.
- Injuries – Please don’t call about your wrist, ankle, or any other minor ache. The only reason I’m coming is if a bone is sticking out.
- Earaches – No way, buddy.
- Forgotten Lunch – Tough luck! Eat what’s available at school. I’m not your lunch delivery service.
- Stomach Aches – Nope. If I can’t see a fever or any visible signs of illness, you’re not getting a ride home.
- Sore Throats – Drink some water and get back to class.
- Bug Bites – Unless you’re swelling up like a balloon, don’t bother me. Mark it with a little X and get on with your day.
I think you all forget that while you’re at school, I’m busy doing my own things (like napping or catching up on shows). School is important, so hang in there! I’ll see you at the regular pickup time, and not a moment sooner.
Love,
Mom
