Mommy and Me Yoga? Let’s Talk About Mommy and Me Toilet Time!home insemination Kit

As a mom who tries to squeeze in exercise with my little one around—including yoga—I can tell you those perfect Instagram moments are few and far between. I mean, it’s hard to maintain your zen when your baby decides to blow raspberries on your belly mid-Savasana or when spit-up makes an unexpected cameo. But you know what? That’s totally okay! Merging your baby into your fitness routine—or really any part of your life—isn’t about achieving perfection. Parenting is a wild ride filled with messy moments, or maybe they’re just moments that are real, depending on your perspective. (Is my cup half-full, or am I just one step closer to no longer needing that coffee shop?)

I’ve embraced the idea of integrating my baby into most aspects of my day-to-day life, and while it’s not always Instagram-worthy, it’s definitely authentic. Here are some of my favorite mommy-and-me adventures:

Toilet Time

I recently saw that viral photo of a mom nursing while using the toilet, and honestly, I didn’t even get what the fuss was about. Sure, I’ve only nursed my baby in the bathroom once (maybe twice?), but I’ve taken her into public stalls more times than I can count. What else am I supposed to do when nature calls? Speaking of toilet time, I had to squat in the woods the other day, baby on board. No shame here!

Nursing on the Go

Just yesterday, I was hiking with my baby snug against my chest when she got hungry. Stopping wasn’t an option, so I just whipped out a boob. Sure, I felt a bit bad since I was a sweaty mess, but hey, it worked for a bit! I didn’t even think about what I’d say if someone spotted us—Free the nipple, right?

Grown-Up Socializing

Most of my pals don’t have kids yet, so babysitters aren’t always on my radar unless it’s absolutely necessary. I typically opt for mommy-and-me outings that feel a bit more grown-up. Whether it’s grabbing coffee, hitting up a bar, or catching some live music, my baby tags along, charming everyone in sight. Of course, it’s not without its hiccups—she has a knack for swiping any drink within reach—but it’s our way of bonding while keeping it convenient.

Appointments

Sometimes, I wish I had a babysitter. Recently, I needed to get some X-rays, and since I didn’t have anyone to watch her, she came along. Yes, it’s ridiculous—babies can’t be in the X-ray room! I parked her in her stroller just outside while I took care of business. You know what? She usually handles these mommy-and-me moments pretty well, and on the rare occasions she doesn’t, we just roll with the punches. I might not get it on Instagram, but I won’t pretend she doesn’t topple over during my bridge poses!

And that’s it! Life isn’t always picture-perfect, but it’s our real and beautiful mess. If you’re curious to explore more about home insemination, check out this great resource.
