I can almost hear the gasps now! Who on earth misses being pregnant? Sure, there are moments of waddling around like a duck, dealing with late-night bathroom trips, and those extra pounds that sneak up on you. But here’s the thing: I don’t miss pregnancy in a “let’s do this again!” kind of way. Instead, I find myself looking back fondly at my past pregnancies now that my partner and I have decided to close the chapter on expanding our family. So, in honor of those challenging yet memorable times, here are a few perks of being pregnant that I genuinely miss:
- Comfort in Your Body: One of the best parts about being pregnant is the freedom to let it all hang out. After indulging in a few too many desserts, I could kick back without sucking in my belly. Everyone admired the baby bump, not the burrito binge behind it!
- Naptime is Sacred: I love a good nap, but I always feel a tad guilty. Not while pregnant! I embraced those midday snoozes without a second thought. If anything interrupted my sleep? Well, let’s just say there were consequences!
- The Ultimate Excuse: I made great use of my “Get Out of Jail Free” card for skipping chores, avoiding social gatherings, and even letting someone else tie my shoes. What a glorious feeling!
- Guilt-Free Indulgence: I usually stick to healthy eating, but pregnancy gave me the perfect excuse to indulge in gelato (or three). After all, I was eating for two, right? Even if that second person was the size of a lemon, they deserved just as much ice cream!
- First Kicks: There’s something incredibly special about being the first to feel your baby move. It’s a unique bond that makes you fall in love with your little one before anyone else can.
- Pampering Galore: I treated myself to prenatal massages and regular pedicures, all in the name of comfort. Those moments of relaxation were pure bliss. I might have to fake an injury just to get back to that level of self-care!
- Luscious Locks: My hair was thick, shiny, and full of life during pregnancy. I remember looking in the mirror and thinking I had just walked out of a salon. Now? Not so much.
- Winning Conversations: When conversations got petty, I could always chime in with, “I’m creating a life! What are you doing today?” Instant conversation ender, and a nice reminder of the miracle happening inside.
For those who breezed through pregnancy and enjoyed every moment, I envy you a bit. It was a wild ride filled with emotions and exhaustion, but totally worth it – even if only for the guilt-free gelato (and that adorable baby at the end)!
