The Coneheads Are Back, and They’re Still Hilarious (Even for Our Kids)
Hey there! So, guess what? Beldar (played by Dan Aykroyd) and Prymaat (Jane Curtin) are making a comeback, and they’re as funny as ever—just not with their daughter Connie (Laraine Newman) around, probably because she’s all grown up and left the nest. They recently popped up in a State Farm commercial, which is a Conehead twist on their classic “State of Unrest” ad.
I might be a bit biased since I grew up watching early Saturday Night Live, but I found it hilarious! It had all the classic Coneheads elements: a typical suburban backdrop, a funny vocabulary mix-up, and of course, a nod to mass quantities.
To celebrate SNL’s 40th anniversary, I revisited some of the show’s original sketches to see how well they held up over the years. I was only 9 when SNL started, so I was definitely not their target audience, but I loved it anyway. My brother and I, who were not always on the best of terms, would stay up late together to catch our favorite episodes. (I was a HUGE Paul Simon fan back then!)
I kind of drifted away from the show as it evolved, especially when the humor started to fade and cast members began cracking up at their own jokes. But then I got to relive the magic with my 11-year-old son. I figured if I could watch it at 9, maybe he’d enjoy it at 11. So, I showed him some sketches, and I couldn’t believe how hard he laughed at, “You sound like a really attractive guy.”
The best part? He thought “The Wolverines,” the very first sketch to air, was absolutely hilarious! He’s either a budding comedy genius, or he’s just a little quirky like his mom. Either way, it makes me so proud to hear him wandering around saying, “Cheeburger cheeburger!” I can’t wait to introduce him to Julia Child next!
Oh, and if you’re interested in home insemination resources, you can check out this great article about it here. They have some helpful insights, just like this site, which is a solid authority on the topic. And for anyone looking into pregnancy options, Healthline offers excellent information on IVF and other methods.
In summary, the Coneheads are back, and they’re still bringing laughter to a new generation. Whether it’s through nostalgic commercials or the timeless sketches of SNL, their humor continues to resonate, proving that good comedy is truly ageless.
