Facebook Filters I Wish I Had (and Posts I Can’t Get Enough Of)

I held out for a long time against joining Facebook, but eventually, I caved in because of work. And now? I find myself scrolling through it all day! But let’s be real—there are some things that just don’t belong in my feed, and I wish I had a filter to make my Facebook experience less cringe-worthy.

Heart-Wrenching Animal Stories

I genuinely appreciate my friends who advocate for animal welfare, whether it’s about pets, livestock, or wildlife. Your causes are important! But sometimes, while I’m enjoying funny videos and yummy food pics, I’m jarred by graphic images of suffering animals. I promise to read your posts if you’d just spare me the visuals!

Bugs

I’m really not a fan of creepy crawlies. Please, no more close-ups of insects. Bees are okay though; I’m terrified of them in real life, but I find them fascinating from a safe distance on my screen.

Spiders

Why are there suddenly so many spider-related posts? I definitely didn’t watch that viral video of a giant spider exploding into a bunch of little ones, but somehow I ended up seeing it anyway. And now there are stories about spiders raining down in Australia or something? Enough already!

Adam Sandler

I can’t help it—I’m just not a fan. Whenever I see a post asking about favorite Adam Sandler movies, I can’t help but roll my eyes.

Sad Stories About Kids

As a parent, I can barely handle fictional violence, let alone real-life horror stories about children. I’d rather stay blissfully unaware.

Repetitive Posts

Remember that ridiculous dress debate? I must have seen it every few posts. Wouldn’t it be great if we could limit repeat stories or at least group them like Google search results? I didn’t care about the dress the first time, and definitely not the fifteenth!

The Kardashians

Honestly, I think there might be a filter for this already.

Judgmental Posts

I already ranted about this, but please stop telling me how I’m doing everything wrong. It’s just plain depressing.

Mombods and Dadbods

Can we just let this go already?

Kale Snacks

Kale isn’t great, and someday the world will come to terms with that!

Now for the fun stuff! Here are things I love to see in my feed:

Adorable Animal Photos and Videos

Whether they’re pets, farm animals, or wildlife, I can’t get enough of cute critters.

Gorgeous, Tasty Food

Yep, I’m one of those people who never tires of food pics.

Heartwarming Stories

I adore uplifting stories about people doing good—like cops paying for groceries instead of arresting shoplifters or professors comforting babies in class. There are so many amazing stories out there that deserve the spotlight, especially amidst the gloom.

Clumsy Criminals Getting Caught

Like that guy who liked his own “Wanted” photo on Facebook. Classic!

James Franco Updates

They always bring a smile to my face.

Summary:

It’s easy to get overwhelmed by the content on Facebook, but it’s also a place for joy. While I wish for filters to block out the negative, I always welcome cute animals, delicious food, and uplifting stories. Let’s focus on the good!
