A Call to My Future Golden Girls
I remember watching The Golden Girls when it first premiered, thinking those ladies were ancient. Now that I’m in my 40s, Dorothy, Sophia, Blanche, and Rose seem a lot closer to my reality. While I’m not rushing through the chaotic days of raising my kids, I can’t help but admire how these women lived life to the fullest.
Imagine a nightly slumber party with your best friends—count me in! The more I think about it, the more appealing this retirement plan becomes. We could form a grandma co-op, showering each other’s grandkids with love and a whole lot of hugs. Plus, pooling our resources could be a financial lifesaver—why not share a mortgage, buy bulk adult diapers, and raid each other’s closets like we did back in high school? Honestly, we probably won’t even remember who owned what!
I’m already mentally scouting friends who could join my future spinster squad. Divorced? Future widow? A lone wolf? All are welcome! Is she a bit of a mess? A hoarder? Well, if she can bake a mean pie, she’s in. A green thumb is essential for my vision of a garden paradise filled with fresh veggies, and of course, we’ll need some hilarious ladies—laughter is the best medicine, after all.
Of course, we’ll need some ground rules for our Golden Girls haven. This is not a wild sorority house or a party pad. I’m looking forward to some serious sleep once the kids are grown, so no late-night shenanigans or nursing hangovers for me!
The Golden Girls is what life looks like after the fairy tale ends. Maybe Prince Charming has moved on, or perhaps he never showed up at all. The kids are now thriving adults thanks to our parenting efforts, but there’s still so much life ahead of us.
We don’t have to fade away like a shadow; our final chapter can be just as vibrant as any decade before it. Picture us as fun-loving grannies, embracing life with open arms. Wouldn’t that be awesome?
I genuinely want to share my golden years with friends who will walk this journey by my side—those who will be my confidantes and partners in crime. If I were to throw a party and invite everyone I know, I wouldn’t care about the size of your gift. In fact, I’m not looking for gifts at all; instead, I’d prefer your company and friendship. Let’s embark on new adventures together. I’ll always be thankful for your friendship.
So, what do you say? Will you be one of my future Golden Girls? Let me know in about 25 years. I’ll save a spot for you, and when the time comes, we’ll kick off this pajama party!
