Empowering Affirmations for Moms

Motherhood is no easy feat. We pour our hearts into our children, nurturing and caring for them because we love them fiercely. We created them, carried them, and now we’re raising them. Yet, there are days when being a mom can feel overwhelming. If you’re reading this, you likely already understand the ups and downs of parenting.

Recently, I caught up with an old friend, Sarah, a brilliant woman with a loyalty that’s hard to find. Now that she’s a mom, some people have made her feel less than, and that really struck a nerve with me. It got me thinking about how crucial it is for moms to have daily affirmations to remind ourselves just how incredible we are. So, here they are: Momfirmations! Feel free to say them aloud while brushing your teeth, nursing, or even during those rare moments of solitude in the bathroom.

  1. “I’m an absolute powerhouse.” I created a human being. Whether through birth, adoption, surrogacy, or blending families, I’m a powerhouse.
  2. “I have emotions too.” Once you become a mom, it can feel like everyone forgets you exist, and life revolves around your child. Don’t let that get to you! You deserve love and recognition just like anyone else.
  3. “You don’t know my story.” When you encounter judgment from strangers, just remind yourself: “You don’t know my story.” And if they’re frowning because your child is having a moment (which happens!), just remember that their opinion doesn’t matter.
  4. “They just don’t understand.” This goes out to your friends without kids who can’t comprehend your life. It’s okay; they’re missing out on the joy and chaos of motherhood. You can gracefully shift them to the “I don’t know you anymore” category—your circle should be filled with those who appreciate you for who you are.
  5. “You can do this. You’re amazing!” On the tough days, remember that your kids look up to you, and you’re doing a fantastic job. They’re thriving because of you, and you’re their guiding light.

The real secret to thriving as a mom isn’t really a secret at all. It’s about cherishing those beautiful moments—like when your baby gives you a kiss or simply calls you “Mama.” It’s in the compliments you receive, and the little victories that remind you that you’re doing just fine. If you can collect these moments in your heart, they will empower you to overcome even the hardest days. I promise, you can do this!
