To the Amazing Woman Caring for My Child While I Work
I’ve never doubted my choice to return to work after my son was born. From the start, I knew that being a stay-at-home mom wasn’t quite the right fit for me. However, leaving my child in someone else’s care was a thought that filled me with anxiety. Would they truly look after him? Would they nurture his gentle spirit and appreciate his unique sense of humor? The worries piled up: What would he eat? Would he be stuck munching on hot dogs and ramen? Would he get the chance to play outside? Would he make friends, or would he cry until I came back? Would I?
Then I found you.
I remember calling you out of sheer desperation, with few options left for childcare. I shared a bit about my son and peppered you with questions. Within just ten minutes, I felt my entire body relax after months of tension. I knew you were something special.
My son took to you right away—your kindness and warm smile made an instant impression. The connection that has blossomed between you and him over the years has been an immense source of comfort for me as a working mom. If I can’t be with him during the day, it brings me so much peace to know he’s in the care of someone I trust completely.
I’m grateful for the way you greet him with a hug every morning, genuinely thrilled to see him. At the end of the day, you share in my delight, recounting the funny things he said or the adventures he embarked on with his friends.
I appreciate how lovingly you maintain your home, creating a nurturing yet structured environment that I hoped to find. You always have something special planned for the day—be it a fun craft or an outdoor escapade. Your space is clean and organized, yet it remains a playground for kids—a place to explore and create.
I’m thankful that you care about his nutrition as much as I do. No hot dogs or mac and cheese in sight (besides the occasional treat, of course!).
He looks up to you and adores your children. The kids you’ve nurtured have become his best friends and partners in crime. He worries about them when they’re sick and eagerly anticipates Monday so he can play with them again.
Thank you for gently guiding him when he makes mistakes. Thank you for comforting him when he falls. Thank you for finding joy in the everyday moments. Thank you for welcoming him into your home.
You’ve often said my son feels like part of your family; I want you to know that you are part of ours too. Not once have I questioned how he’s doing in your care while I’m at work. I am so grateful that you’ve given me one less worry in this chaotic journey of parenting.
You’ve given me the greatest gift—peace of mind. For that, I cannot thank you enough.
