September vs. May Parenting: Sorry Kids

As we approach June, the end of the school year is finally in sight. But hold on—those last few weeks feel like a never-ending marathon. We’re just trying to get the kids out the door with something resembling clothing, and their backpacks? Let’s just say they’re held together by sheer willpower (and maybe some tape).
Is it really necessary to buy new shoes or more pencils at this point? And t-shirts? Let’s be honest, does it really matter if they’re faded and torn? Lunch? Just toss a couple of apples in there, kiddo. The Holderness family has come through once again with a video that perfectly captures this chaotic time of year. If your little ones are hanging by a thread, you’re absolutely not alone.
They captioned their video: “In our home, there’s a stark contrast between September Parenting and May Parenting. How about you? #whoneedsahairbrush #youneedluncheverysingleday? #makeitstop”
September Parenting:
“Check out these brand new shoes that will keep you sturdy and safe all year!”
May Parenting:
“Mommy, these have holes in them.”
“Honestly, you’ll be in flip-flops in a couple weeks anyway, so let’s just tape them up and call it a day.”

In summary, as we inch closer to summer, the stark differences between the start and end of the school year become all too clear. While September brings fresh beginnings and organization, May is all about surviving the chaos. Just remember, you’re not alone in this parenting journey!
