Choosing “Yes” to My Marriage Every Day
Marriage is a tough gig—like, really tough. You vow to spend your life with someone, a promise that feels monumental at the moment. But let’s be real; sometimes, those vows can feel more like a challenge than a commitment.
Why Does This Happen?
Well, marriage is a rollercoaster of ups and downs. Each day, you commit to navigating life alongside your partner. You share in the joys and face the struggles, supporting each other through everything that life throws your way. And then, if you’re fortunate, you welcome children into your world, a tidal wave of love and joy that you didn’t know existed. Yet, with that joy comes a unique set of stresses that can be overwhelming.
There are moments when you may find yourself at a crossroads, wondering if throwing in the towel would be easier. It’s easy to get caught up in negativity and lose sight of all the good as the pressures of life pile up. Marriage is hard. Parenting is hard. But trying to balance both? Now that’s a true test of endurance.
Reaffirming Our Commitment
In the hustle and bustle of family life, it’s all too easy to forget about yourself, losing sight of the foundation that is your relationship. But I’ve learned that every single day, I have to say “yes” to my marriage once more.
Each day is a reaffirmation of our vows, a reminder that we are a team, committed to supporting one another through thick and thin. You might not always agree or even particularly like each other on some days, but deep down, the love is unwavering.
Every single day, you choose to continue nurturing the bond that brought you together, an intricate dance that requires constant care, faith, and attention. A little while back, I lost part of the diamond from my engagement ring and had to sell the remaining piece during a challenging financial time. However, my partner surprised me today with two brand new rings, which we’ll have blessed—I hope I never lose these!
Today, I said yes again. And I pray that I’ll get to say it for the rest of my life, one day at a time.
