Hold onto your tissues, folks: your beloved show, This Is Us, is officially coming back for not one, but two more seasons! That’s right, NBC made the exciting announcement today that the heartwarming series has been renewed for both Season 2 and Season 3.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Jennifer Salke, president of NBC Entertainment, shared that each of the upcoming seasons will feature 18 episodes. That means we’re in for at least 36 more episodes of emotional rollercoasters and family drama. Can you say yay? Yes, we’re totally calm about this. We definitely don’t have our lives revolving around our DVR schedules, and we definitely didn’t sob uncontrollably after Toby went down in that jaw-dropping cliffhanger—who would do that?
The show got a full season order after just one episode aired, which should have clued anyone in on how quickly fans would fall in love. Seriously, is there even a character on this show that you don’t adore? They might not be perfect, but they’re so relatable and real. Plus, let’s be honest—having the dreamy duo of Milo Ventimiglia and Sterling K. Brown on screen doesn’t hurt.
Dan Fogelman, the show’s creator, hinted that the unique timeline will keep the stories flowing. “There’s a hinge in this family, a before with Jack and an after,” he explained. “That will be fascinating to explore in the future seasons as we reveal what that hinge was and what happened to everyone before and after. We hope to uncover those layers over many more episodes.”
