Including older siblings in an infant photo shoot can be quite the challenge. If they’re toddlers, sitting still is often a distant dream, and their excitement for their new baby sibling might lead to some overly enthusiastic cuddles. But sometimes, with a little luck and perfect timing, photographers capture heart-melting moments—just like this talented mom did!

Meet photographer Sarah Jenkins and her partner Lisa, who are thrilled to be parents to two stunning sets of twins: Max and Lily, nearly three, and Mia and Maya, just two weeks old. Owner of the charming studio Pixel and Bloom Photography, Sarah recently snapped some precious moments of the newborn girls, and their older siblings jumped in for an extra adorable shot.

The identical twins, born on January 26th, snuggled up to their ecstatic big brother and sister, who were clearly over the moon about the whole arrangement. Sarah shared with Parenting Today that the pose was part of her master plan, but her first attempt was a bit of a flop. “Earlier that day, I tried to have Max and Lily hold the newborns, but it was a complete disaster. After a half-hour break, I brought them back into the studio and laid them down for this shot. It took just two minutes! To get those big smiles, I told them to ‘act silly,’ which they thought was hysterical.”

And voila! The second attempt turned out to be a charming success, resulting in a beautiful image that will surely be cherished for years to come. Sarah also managed to capture several sweet photos of Mia and Maya separately.

The cuteness overload is almost too much to handle! Despite the difficulties in getting all four kids in one shot, it’s clear that Max and Lily are absolutely smitten with their baby sisters. Sarah explains, “They’ve adored their little sisters long before they arrived. Both are incredibly gentle, love to hold and feed them, and can’t wait for the days they can take them down slides and on tractor rides.”

As for the surprise of having two sets of twins, Sarah reveals, “Mia and Maya were a total shock. With Max and Lily, we were prepared due to the odds, but identical twins? That caught us completely off guard. It’s still mind-blowing that we now have four kids under three years old!”

Looking ahead, Sarah plans to capture more family photos as the kids grow. “I definitely intend to get more shots of all four together. For now, though, I’m thrilled with this one of them as newborns.”

Both Sarah and Lisa are delighted that their joyful family story is bringing smiles to others and perhaps even hope for LGBT couples considering starting a family.
