“Let’s be honest: Kids can be utterly bizarre.” Sometimes, parents need to lean into the oddities, and that’s precisely what Missouri mom Emily did when planning her daughter Lily’s third birthday celebration.
Lily had her heart set on a poop-themed birthday party, leading her adventurous parents to embrace her quirky request. The inner child in all of us is cheering!
“Like every child, Lily was eager for her birthday and wanted it to reflect something she adores,” Emily shared with Home Insemination Kit. “Her fascination with poop is extraordinary. Every time we discussed the party, she insisted on poop balloons and a poop cake.”
Emily continued, “We attempted to suggest other themes, but she consistently opted for poop. One evening, I turned to my husband and said, ‘What if we just go with poop?’ He agreed she would love it. Often, we focus on impressing other adults with our parties, but this was about Lily and her joy.”
And that’s exactly what they did. Thanks to the popularity of Apple’s smiling poop emoji, Emily found a plethora of adorable poop-themed party supplies online, including matching costumes for her and Lily. They even created a homemade game called “Pin the Poop in the Toilet,” which is just as amusing as it sounds.
Though the party took place last October, the photos recently resurfaced and went viral. Emily mentioned that Lily is enjoying the newfound fame. “I told her that many people are looking at her poop party pictures and find them hilarious,” she noted. “Even Dr. Oz mentioned it, and she’s been watching it repeatedly. She dreams of becoming a doctor, so she thought it was amazing that a doctor talked about her party.”
Emily also shared that Lily’s passion for poop remains strong. “I have NO clue where this obsession comes from,” she admitted. “But yes, it’s genuine and occurs daily.” Lily amusingly calls herself the “poop detective” at home. “Once, our dog had an accident while we were out. Now, every time we enter the house, Lily proclaims she’s the ‘poop detective’ and goes on the hunt for it,” Emily said.
Unexpectedly, Emily’s story about Lily’s party went viral, highlighting her daughter’s unique spirit. “It never crossed her mind that poop was a funny theme,” she remarked. “As we grow older, many try to dictate what’s cool. Right now, I cherish that she simply enjoys what she enjoys. That’s why we decided to celebrate the weirdness.”
