Target has found yet another way to win our hearts — they’re now accepting old car seats for recycling! Not only does this help us declutter, but it also benefits the environment. Seriously, Target, you’re amazing!

Event Details

From Monday, April 17th to Sunday, April 30th, you can drop off your used car seat at any Target location across the country and receive a 20% off coupon for a new car seat, valid through May 31st. In celebration of Earth Day on April 22nd, Target has partnered with Terracycle, a leader in recycling challenging materials. They’ll transform your old car seats into new products, such as bags and gardening supplies, instead of just tossing them in a landfill.

The Importance of Recycling

Disposing of car seats can be a real hassle; not everyone is an environmentalist, but tossing away large plastic items feels wrong. While some places offer recycling options, they’re often limited. For instance, Toys R’ Us hosts a Great Trade-In event twice a year, allowing customers to exchange car seats without restrictions. They’ve collected over a million of them!

In Portland, Oregon, Legacy Health has been recycling used car seats year-round and reported recycling over 6 tons in 2014. For this event, Target hopes to gather more than 700,000 pounds of car seat materials that would typically end up as waste.

Target’s Initiative

After a successful trial at 90 stores last September, Target is expanding this initiative. Look for bins in the baby section or near the front of the store, where you can find a team member to help you get your coupon. Just imagining the scene with car seats piled up makes me break into a sweat! But if anyone can handle it, it’s Target.

We absolutely adore this initiative. So, prepare your old car seat and head to Target next week. And while you’re at it, if you’re looking for more information on home insemination, check out this helpful post on our site.

Conclusion

In summary, Target’s recycling program for old car seats not only encourages eco-friendly practices but also provides a discount on new car seats, making it a win-win for families.
