Am I setting myself up for chaos? My kids often request parties at fun venues like bowling alleys, jump zones, and aquariums. Yet, time and again, I manage to persuade them that hosting a spa party at home would be a unique and exciting experience. Just when I finally convince myself that this is a great idea, they jump on board. What’s wrong with me? There’s a reason why everyone gravitates to those popular locations: they’re hassle-free. I’ve learned the hard way that hosting at home means a messy house and wild kids—so why can’t I remember that?
Last night, we hosted a spa-themed bash for Lily and 14 of her closest friends, all decked out in PJs and bubbling with excitement. We painted 140 nails, slathered avocado masks on 140 cheeks, and styled 14 heads of hair with braids and barrettes (yes, I’m claiming “barretted” as a verb!). It was undeniably some of the best moments of having a daughter, and I truly enjoyed every second of it.
But next year? I think I’ll opt for an outside venue where I can avoid the planning, cooking, and cleaning. Or, more likely, you’ll be reading a similar post about my latest decision-making dilemma!

In summary, while home parties can be a whirlwind of fun and creativity, they also come with their own set of challenges. Next time, I might just let someone else handle the chaos!
