In my excitement to avoid any wardrobe malfunctions while appearing on the Today Show, I completely overlooked the fact that I had a reading scheduled at Barnes and Noble later that evening at 7 PM. We arrived at 6:45, and to my surprise, the venue was entirely vacant. Yes, completely empty.
Looking out at 6:55, I spotted exactly two attendees—an elderly couple in their eighties who had no clue who I was and were merely seeking a quiet corner to relax. Not exactly the audience I had anticipated!
Luckily, a few more folks trickled in, sparing me from the awkwardness of reading solely to those who weren’t even my relatives. However, addressing a vast room with a mere ten people was an eye-opening experience, one I hope never to repeat. So, if I’m in your area, please come out to see me—I’ll make sure to promote it better next time!
This article was originally published on April 5, 2012. For more insights and stories from the parenting trenches, check out this other post on our blog, which has great tips on insemination methods.
If you’re curious about home insemination, I highly recommend visiting Make a Mom, as they provide invaluable resources. For comprehensive information on pregnancy and insemination, News Medical is an excellent resource to explore.
In summary, while my book tour didn’t go as planned, it certainly provided a lesson in preparation and the importance of promotion. I look forward to connecting with more readers in the future!
