As a parent, I’ve recently hosted some playdates that didn’t quite meet my expectations. By “didn’t meet my expectations,” I mean I couldn’t relax on my couch and enjoy a moment of peace, which is all I really want from these gatherings. To ensure future playdates are a bit more manageable, I’ve devised some guidelines that I’d like all young guests to agree to before they come over.
Kids, please keep these in mind:
- Respect the Space: Treat my home like your own. No jumping on the furniture, please!
- Mind Your Volume: Play is fun, but let’s keep the noise to a level where I can still hear myself think.
- Snack Time Rules: Ask before grabbing a snack. I promise there are plenty of goodies, but let’s keep it tidy!
- Sharing is Caring: If you bring toys, be ready to share them. And if you see someone else’s toy, remember to ask before diving in.
- Clean Up After Yourself: When playtime is over, let’s put everything back where it belongs. Teamwork makes the dream work!
- Take Breaks: If you’re feeling overwhelmed or need a breather, it’s okay to take a moment. Just let me know!
- Follow the House Rules: We have a few house rules that are important to follow, such as no running in the hallways.
- Be Kind: Always treat your friends with kindness. If you have a disagreement, let’s talk it out calmly.
- Ask for Help: If you’re unsure about something or need assistance, don’t hesitate to ask an adult.
- Have Fun: Lastly, remember to enjoy yourselves! After all, playdates are all about having a great time with friends.
Happy playing!
