The Home Insemination Kit Manifesto

Please join me in embracing the following principles:

  • I will keep a light-hearted perspective on all aspects of motherhood; without humor, I risk becoming overwhelmed. Or worse, utterly unhappy.
  • I will refrain from judging the mom in the grocery store who hands out candy to her wailing toddler in the candy aisle. It’s just a strategy for survival.
  • I will not feel the need to compare myself to the super-moms who whip up gourmet meals from scratch, craft baby food like a pro, or create stunning costumes out of basic materials. Motherhood isn’t a race; the only ones who truly lose are those who rush through it.
  • I will give sympathetic looks to parents dealing with crying infants on airplanes instead of scowls. I’m fortunate to be able to leave my child behind at the destination; they don’t have that luxury.
  • I will never inquire if a woman is expecting. It’s a personal matter and not my place to pry.
  • I will not judge the mom who wears the same yoga pants, flip-flops, and T-shirt she wore yesterday for school pickup. She has her reasons!
  • I will acknowledge that I know very little about any child apart from my own, who remains a delightful enigma.
  • I will gladly hold the new babies of friends and family to give them a chance to shower and rest—because that’s what every new mom really craves.
  • I’ll do my best not to project my own body image struggles onto my daughter. She deserves a mom who embraces her body, stretch marks and all.
  • I will steer clear of lecturing fellow mothers about breastfeeding, circumcision, organic food, or other personal choices unless they specifically ask for my input. It’s not my place to judge.
  • I will remind myself that I should never say “never,” as I might just end up with a boisterous, beach-clad toddler armed with a water gun!
  • I will remember that no mother is flawless, and my children will flourish, sometimes because of me and sometimes in spite of me.

This manifesto is a reminder to celebrate the journey of motherhood. As a community, we thrive on support and understanding.
