Is anyone else still feeling frustrated about the lack of a middle finger emoji? Seriously, it’s the one we’ve all been eagerly anticipating. And let’s not forget about the clamoring for other emojis, like a hot dog, taco, glass of white wine, and lobster. Looks like someone’s ready to show off their clambake plans!
With all this chatter in mind, I pondered what other emojis would be super useful. Here are my top ten picks:
1. Bat Signal
Always be true to yourself. Unless you can channel Batman – then it’s time to embrace your inner superhero. The Bat Signal emoji is perfect for announcing your latest victories, whether it’s landing a promotion or tackling your kid’s science project while they bounce on the trampoline. You’re basically Batman!
2. Left Shark
Sometimes you just want to do your own thing, much like Katy Perry’s infamous Super Bowl shark dancer. This emoji would be ideal when dodging invites to places you’d rather skip, like a birthday dinner for someone you barely know. Instead of typing “No thanks, I’m going to left-shark it tonight,” just send the Left Shark emoji for a cooler response.
3. Coachella Astronaut
Festival season is in full swing, and we all secretly wish we were at Coachella instead of running carpool. While we have emojis for palm trees and sunshine, nothing screams festival vibes quite like a giant no-faced astronaut floating around. It’s the ultimate vibe-check!
4. Amy Poehler in ‘Mean Girls’
I know, some new emojis already resemble Regina George’s mom in her pink sweatsuit, but none capture the essence of the cool mom holding a vintage video camera and snacks. Because sometimes, being the “cool mom” is all we need in life.
5. Sad Piccolo Girl
Remember the Villanova band member who played through her tears during March Madness? That’s the Sad Piccolo Girl emoji we could really use during those heart-wrenching TV moments—like when Will was shot on The Good Wife. Sometimes we’re sad enough to cry but still can’t look away!
6. Starbucks Cup
While Starbucks may not be everyone’s cup of tea, for some, it’s everything! This emoji represents that deep love for the brand, making it the ultimate expression of affection. Just remember: use it wisely or you might flood every chat!
7. Mockingjay
The third book in The Hunger Games trilogy is often deemed the least favorite. It’s the perfect emoji to express frustration when something or someone crashes an otherwise perfect event. “They totally mockingjayed the end of How I Met Your Mother” works wonders here.
8. Pharrell’s Hat
This iconic hat went viral and even earned a place in Washington, D.C.’s Newseum. It’s a fantastic emoji for pointing out when something cool gets overshadowed by something even cooler. For instance, “Time to put Pharrell’s Hat on Adam Levine, he’s been upstaged this season!”
9. Olivia Pope’s White Hat
Another hat? Absolutely! This one symbolizes Olivia Pope as a powerful fixer. With a White Hat emoji, you can assert that whatever’s being discussed is under control, and popcorn is definitely in order!
10. Plaid Skirt
The Plaid Skirt emoji is the ultimate #sorrynotsorry symbol. It may conjure images of a rebellious schoolgirl, but it also represents freedom. Channel your inner Britney Spears and use this emoji to say “Oops, my bad,” while getting away with it.
