Sometimes, life can really drain the happiness out of us, don’t you think? Even when I have the essentials—food, water, shelter—there are days when everything just feels off. Adulting can truly be a drag. But when everything seems upside down and chaotic, life has a knack for throwing delightful moments my way, reminding me that joy still exists.
Here are 25 things that brightened my day:
- My morning coffee—it’s my daily fuel for life.
- Teaching my son about the human body while my toddler daughter enthusiastically echoed “Testicles! Testicles!” for the rest of the day.
- Spontaneous stick-figure family portraits, complete with outrageously lengthy limbs and gigantic grins (which is surprisingly accurate, now that I think of it).
- Adele’s soulful voice serenading me. Hello, indeed!
- Spotting “LOVE” painted with shoe polish on the traffic mirror at the Starbucks drive-thru. I paused to snap a photo, much to the chagrin of the cars behind me, but it was so worth it.
- Delaying the impatient driver behind me while capturing that “LOVE” sign—ah, sweet karma!
- A touch of irony—it never fails to bring a smile to my face.
- Bite marks on the butter stick, cheese block, and even the apple pie. One day, I might miss these little moments and just reenact them for fun.
- Listening to my husband pretend to be a friendly dragon who breathes candy instead of fire for the kids.
- An elderly couple holding hands in the grocery store parking lot—a beautiful sight, whether it’s love or just a means to stay steady.
- Discovering a clearance rack filled with clothes in my size—what are the odds?
- Finding a coupon that wasn’t expired and actually remembering to use it—score!
- My trusty cell phone, allowing me to avoid awkward social interactions when I choose to.
- The charming cashier who flirted with me, or maybe I was just reading too much into it, but it still made me giddy.
- Opening the dishwasher to find it empty—pure bliss.
- My husband’s cozy, furry arms—so reassuring to cuddle with.
- My son’s amusing term for bras: “booby casts.” I have no idea where he got that, but I’m not correcting him anytime soon.
- Hilarious memes on social media that perfectly blend sarcasm with a sprinkle of profanity. I can’t get enough.
- Baby wipes—truly the ultimate multitaskers.
- Realizing my kids weren’t the most unruly ones in a public place today—parenting victory!
- Watching a hipster try to capture the perfect shot of her food—it made me laugh out loud.
- Glancing at the clock and realizing it’s finally bedtime—thank goodness!
- Late-night snacks with no one around to judge me, and yes, donuts are divine.
- Finally finding a pair of earplugs that actually work. I don’t know how I would manage without them.
- Sipping wine from a plastic Spider-Man cup, just because I can.
