So, You’ve Enrolled Your Child in a Montessori School?
You’ve decided to send your little one to a Montessori school? Here’s a glimpse of what might unfold, as shared in the “daily updates”:
First Day Excitement
What a fantastic first day for Lily! She seems truly happy working independently. Mostly because she’s a bit possessive of her space, but hey, she’s thriving!
Today was a sleepy day! She struggled to nap through the music circle, but we’re confident she’ll adjust 🙂
Lunch: avocado, almond butter with apples, and some ancient grains.
Finding Her Voice
Lily is really coming into her own! She’s definitely the loudest child in the class—if we had awards, she’d win “Most Vocal,” which we don’t do because #patriarchy, but still! Thanks for the extra clothes! Just a heads up, we prefer no words, patterns, or bright colors, so she’s rocking a locally sourced hemp poncho. Super fun! 🙂
Playground Adventures
Lily enjoyed climbing on the playground! She’s gaining strength, though maybe not enough? Have you thought about putting up a brachiation bar at home? Just grab some pristine pine wood and 14 feet of wall space. It’s a breeze!
Birthday Celebrations
Happy 2nd birthday to Lily! Apologies for returning the three dozen personalized cupcakes 🙁 But we know you and the kids will appreciate the special birthday walk in the sunshine, which is truly the best treat!
Lunch: kale chips, kefir, and gluten-free crackers.
Challenging Norms
Lily had such a non-binary day! One of the substitutes mistook her for a boy 🙂 It’s exciting to see her challenge gender norms!
Important Reminders
Just a reminder that we’ll close early on Tuesday for the vernal equinox, so please collect your children by 9:45 a.m.! Happy new moon! 🙂
Lunch: oatmeal, fish sauce, and persimmon.
Astrological Insights
Lily is getting so ambitious! She embodies a Capricorn spirit, which makes it amusing that she’s a Virgo? Have you thought about having someone do her astrological chart? Our assistant guide is a certified astrologist, just saying! 🙂
Creative Play
Ha! Max used Lily’s diapers to construct a fort 🙂 Could you send more? In the meantime, we’re letting her roam free in the backyard. A true free-range kiddo!
Parent Education Night
Don’t forget about the Parent Education Night tomorrow at 4 p.m.! It should be a fantastic discussion on “How to Say No Without Saying No,” along with other useful tips. And don’t miss next month’s sessions on child-led potty training and crafting tiny chairs!
Incident Report
Apologies for the rash confusion! The full-body hives photo was meant for Mia’s parents, of course!
Did you receive the incident report? Oliver took Lily’s shape sorter, and she gave him a little scratch with a baby mum-mum 🙁 Just a tiny mark, but if you could sign the form and perhaps avoid sending sharp foods for a while, that’d be great!
Volunteer Opportunities
Hello, Montessori Pumpernickel Class parents! Just a reminder that you all have 50 volunteer hours to complete by the end of the week, so let us know if you’d like to help out and avoid the $400 fee! We’re looking for a master carpenter to build custom reclaimed-wood bookshelves, a lepidopterist to lead an off-site butterfly expedition, and an experienced kombucha-maker to help care for the classroom SCOBY. Also, we could use someone to guide the lower school in a traditional Japanese tea ceremony!!! If interested, please reach out to the office! More opportunities will be available soon!!!
A Wild Day
What a wild day! The toddlers made good on their threat and locked us all in the supply closet LOL!
Health Alert
Hey everyone! One of our friends has been coming to school with “pink eye,” and it seems to be spreading! Not suggesting it’s intentional, but we’ll be closed indefinitely for sanitization and to have the classroom smudged with sagebrush.
