To my dear children, I am enough.
Every single day, I grapple with the fear that I’m not measuring up. Am I a good enough mom, a supportive partner, a reliable friend, or a successful business owner? The pressures can feel overwhelming. With three little ones under the age of five, a laundry mountain that seems to reach the clouds, an inbox bursting with unread messages, and a kitchen full of empty takeout containers, it’s easy to feel like I’m falling short.
Yet, when I glance at you—my joyful, playful kids, who look at me with pure love and excitement—I realize perhaps I am enough after all.
My Preschooler
There are days when I feel self-conscious about my appearance. My clothes are old, not fashionable, and I haven’t seen a hairdresser in months. But then I watch you joyfully trying on my outfits, grinning at your reflection and declaring, “I look pretty like Mama.” In your eyes, I am beautiful enough.
My Toddler
At times, I worry that I’ve lost my adventurous spirit. I don’t have thrilling tales of escapades to share. However, when I came to your school to talk about sea turtles, I saw the pride radiating from you as you introduced me to your friends. To you, I am interesting enough.
My Baby
There are moments when I feel guilty that our children are so close in age, and I fear I can’t give you the same attention I offered your siblings. Everything you wear is a hand-me-down, but when I gently pull an old onesie over your head and tickle your tummy, your giggles fill the room with joy. To you, our family is exactly what it should be—our family is enough.
Sometimes I wish I could reclaim my pre-motherhood body, longing to shed those last few baby pounds. But whenever you snuggle into my neck, your eyelids fluttering as you drift off to sleep, I realize that to you, I am home.
Life in our household is far from perfect. There’s chaos, stress, messes, and yes, more nights of Cheerios than I care to admit. But maybe that’s just how it’s meant to be. I observe you swinging your feet and laughing over those Cheerios, and it dawns on me that to my children, I am truly enough.

In summary, being a parent is a balancing act filled with challenges and moments of doubt. Yet, it’s essential to recognize the love and joy we provide, realizing that in our children’s eyes, we are enough just as we are.
