A Texas couple recently paid tribute to the deputy who played a crucial role in the birth of their baby girl with a charming photoshoot. Baby Sophia Jane Morris made her grand entrance in an unforgettable manner, prompting her parents to commemorate the occasion with a unique photo session.
Jessica and Tyler Morris had made the journey to a hospital in Fort Worth, a 45-minute drive from their home, only to be told by the doctors to return later. “They said I wasn’t in active labor and didn’t think she’d be arriving this week,” Jessica recounted. “When they asked me to rate the pain on a scale of 1 to 10, I said it was an 8. They told me to come back when it was an 11.”
Despite the doctors’ reassurances, Jessica felt differently. “My body was telling me, ‘She’s coming right now!’” So, the couple hopped back into their Jeep Cherokee and sped down the highway in the early hours of July 20. It was then that Deputy Constable Mike Jones spotted them and flashed his lights to pull them over. After catching up at a red light, Tyler explained their urgent situation. The deputy activated his lights and sirens to escort them safely through the streets, but baby Sophia had other plans.
“Tyler was shouting, ‘We’re going to get you to the hospital, and we’re going to have this baby!’” Jessica recalled. “I said, ‘No, pull over!’” Realizing they might need his assistance, Deputy Jones followed suit. “[Tyler] started yelling for me, and I rushed to the passenger side. There were no complications. I caught the baby while Jessica cleared her airway, and she started crying,” the deputy shared. “I wrapped her in a blanket and placed her on her mom’s chest. It was an amazing experience.”
The unexpected arrival of baby Sophia forged a bond between the Morris family and Deputy Jones. “We’ve had lunch together and met his family,” Jessica said. “It was touching to see how much this meant to him and his family. They were all in tears, so I wanted to give him something special to remember this day, something sweet to cherish.” To capture the moment, the couple reached out to photographer Emily Roberts, who specializes in newborn and family photography.
