Growing up, my father and brothers often insisted that a woman could never ascend to the presidency. They claimed women were too emotional, too erratic, too uninformed. However, it was my mother who truly held our family together. She was the one who picked up the pieces during tough times, ensuring my siblings and I pursued higher education, even though she never had that chance herself. Each time my father hurt her, she stood tall, dignified, and did what needed to be done.
I was determined to shatter the academic records set by my brothers. I made it my mission to achieve higher grades, excel in exams, and secure the best scholarship to a top-tier college. Yet, regardless of my accomplishments, they never showed me the respect I deserved. They still refuse to acknowledge that a woman can be a capable leader.
On Tuesday, I will proudly don white. I will shed tears of joy as I cast my vote for the most qualified candidate—a woman. When Secretary Clinton takes office in January, I will feel immense relief and happiness knowing that my vision of a female president has finally come to fruition.
Most importantly, I will rejoice that my daughter will grow up in a world where the possibility of being president is not merely a fanciful notion dismissed by others. She will have a real role model—a president who resembles her. My daughter will understand that anything truly is achievable.
I am wholeheartedly in support of her!
