Pixar Unveils ‘Incredibles 2’ Cast, and It Was Worth the Anticipation
The excitement surrounding the sequel to the beloved animated film has reached new heights, as Pixar recently announced the cast for ‘Incredibles 2’. The original film, released 14 years ago, has left fans eagerly wondering about the fate of their favorite Super family. This week, Disney/Pixar finally put an end to the suspense by revealing a lineup that includes many returning voices alongside fresh talent.
In a creative twist, the cast announcement paid homage to the popular Google Arts & Culture app, showcasing how each actor matches their animated counterpart. Among the returning stars, we see Holly Hunter reprising her role as Helen Parr, better known as Elastigirl. Craig T. Nelson returns as Bob Parr, or Mr. Incredible, while the witty teenager Violet, voiced by Sarah Vowell, is back to throw force fields and keep her family in check. The iconic Samuel L. Jackson will once again lend his voice to Frozone, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to see Edna “E” Mode return, voiced by none other than writer and director Brad Bird himself.
Huckleberry “Huck” Milner steps into the shoes of Dashiell “Dash” Parr, and if I ever have twins, I might just name them Huck and Dash! New characters are also set to join the Parr family on their next adventure. The talented Jonathan Banks from ‘Better Call Saul’ takes on the role of Rick Dicker, who heads the Super Relocation Program, aimed at keeping the Parrs’ Super identities under wraps.
Additionally, the always-stunning Isabella Rossellini will voice the Ambassador, a character advocating for the legal recognition of superheroes. Sophia Bush joins the cast as Voyd, a young super fan with the ability to make objects vanish and return, adding an intriguing twist to the storyline. Bob Odenkirk and Catherine Keener will portray siblings Winston and Evelyn Deavor, with Winston aiming to shift public opinion on Supers and Evelyn as a tech whiz—definitely a clever nod from Pixar.
Director Brad Bird is not shying away from strong themes in this animated sequel. In ‘Incredibles’, Helen struggled to conceal her superhero identity, but in the sequel, her character embarks on a journey of empowerment. Holly Hunter expressed her excitement about this character development, stating, “She throws down the gauntlet in this one … it’s fun to see Helen basking in those two arenas in much the same way that we give men license to do.”
‘Incredibles 2’ is set to hit theaters on June 15, 2018, giving fans ample time to prepare for the excitement ahead.
