Week 10: Feeling the Heat of Pregnancy
Welcome to week 10 of your pregnancy! Here’s what’s happening…
MIND:
Great news! As you hit the 10-week mark, those wild hormones and symptoms creating chaos in your body (and mood) may also be boosting your libido. With increased blood flow to your intimate areas, fuller breasts, and that beautiful pregnancy glow, it’s perfectly normal for your thoughts to wander. Enjoy this spark while it lasts, because in a few months, intimacy may take a backseat to other priorities.
BODY:
Your uterus is expanding to make room for your growing baby, and while you might notice your tummy is starting to round, you’re not quite showing yet. If you haven’t shared your pregnancy news with everyone, it might be tempting to keep it under wraps until after the 12-week mark, when miscarriage risks drop significantly. Hang in there—you’re almost at that milestone!
BABY:
This week, your baby’s head is rounding out, and those tiny knees and elbows are now capable of bending. They’ll need that flexibility soon enough, especially during messy mealtimes when food ends up on the floor instead of the plate! At this stage, your little one is about the size of a delicious cocktail shrimp—just one of those things that toddlers often refuse to eat, and something you might want to avoid unless it’s fully cooked during pregnancy. The vital organs are developing and functioning, and although your baby can swallow and kick, it’ll be a while before you can feel those movements.
NEST:
You’re in that phase of pregnancy where maternity wear isn’t quite necessary yet, but you might want some looser-fitting clothes as weight gain, bloating, and yes, more gas can lead to snugger pants. To extend the life of your favorite jeans, consider getting a button extender from a craft store—or better yet, shop online since you might not be in the mood for a trip out. Or, why not embrace the comfort of stretchy yoga pants now? They’re the unofficial uniform of mothers everywhere!
