Everyone loves a good bargain, especially when it comes to shopping for kids. So when a mother found herself at a local pharmacy with her little one and spotted some enticing after-Easter discounts on toys, she couldn’t resist. However, the excitement quickly turned to disbelief when they got home and her son unwrapped the packages, leading to a rather unexpected situation.
“I took my son Jake to the pharmacy today, and they had tons of Easter items on sale, so I let him pick out a few toys,” shared Sarah Flynn on social media. “Jake was convinced he had to have these squishy bananas! They looked adorable, and I thought they’d be a fun sensory toy for a toddler.” While they may be decent sensory toys, they were definitely not appropriate for young children.
“The first picture shows the cute packaging they come in, designed to attract kids,” she continued. “But once you open them up, there’s a surprise inside!” And oh, what a surprise it was—it certainly took the meaning of “He is Risen” to an entirely different level.
The poor mom pointed out the obvious: “Looks like a giant phallic toy my 3-year-old is waving around.” Yes, Sarah, it does indeed. Things took a turn for the worse when they picked up her older son from preschool, and little Jake insisted on bringing the toys along. “I told him NOT TO TAKE IT INSIDE!!! I yelled JAKE PUT THAT AWAY!” You can just imagine the urgency in her voice with all those capital letters. To add to the irony, his preschool is located in a church. God bless the Father, Son, Holy Spirit, and these toy… um, accessories.
These ORB Odditeez FuzionFoodz toys are marketed as oversized “bananas” with hidden treasures. According to their website, these “aPEELing collectibles” contain “sweet treats and quirky surprises,” but you won’t know what’s inside until you peel them, which might remind some of their college days.
In case you’re curious about the peeling process, there’s a helpful video available for viewing. “It’s supposed to be a finger,” Sarah remarked. But honestly, who wants to pull a plastic “finger” out of a banana, let alone something resembling a phallic object?
Sarah wanted to issue a public service announcement to alert other parents about these toys in case they come across them in stores. “I thought I should warn anyone who might consider buying these as party favors for their kids. Can you imagine the reactions from parents after discovering one of these in a gift bag?”
While we all appreciate a good deal, these toys would probably fare better if marketed to a more mature audience. But who are we to judge?
In summary, a mom’s shopping trip turned into a surprising lesson in toy selection when her son’s new “bananas” led to an unexpected encounter with questionable toys.
