In a groundbreaking move, Pornhub has launched its inaugural series of sexual education videos aimed at young adults. The series, titled “Pornhub Sex Ed,” covers essential topics such as preparation for sexual activity, anatomy for both genders, STD awareness, and even guidance on safe sex during the pandemic.
This initiative is part of the Pornhub Sexual Wellness Center, designed to be a comprehensive resource for information about sexuality and relationships. The first batch of 11 videos features insights from licensed sex therapists and experts, including Dr. Emily Parker, the director of the Sexual Wellness Center. “Our goal is to provide reliable information in a way that is both educational and engaging,” Parker states.
Corey Miller, Pornhub’s Vice President, highlights that the series was created to deliver realistic and safe sex education. He notes that many young adults are often exposed to distorted views of sex through mainstream pornography. “This series aims to be a reliable resource for individuals looking to learn about safe sexual practices and to address common questions visually,” Miller explains.
A 2015 survey conducted by the National Union of Students found that 60 percent of students turn to pornography as a means of learning about sex, with nearly 75 percent acknowledging that porn often sets unrealistic expectations. “Many individuals have questions regarding sexual experiences, and we hope our video series will provide clear visual answers,” Parker adds.
This isn’t Pornhub’s first venture into sexual education. The Sexual Wellness Center has accumulated hundreds of articles that cover a wide range of topics related to sexual health. Since its launch in 2017, the center has attracted over 40 million visitors, with popular subjects including “Sexuality,” “Healthy Practices,” and “Contraception.”
The statistics reveal that over 70 percent of visitors to the Sexual Wellness Center are men, with millennials under 35 making up a significant portion of the audience. “Surprisingly, one third of our visitors are over the age of 45, indicating that learning about sexuality is a lifelong journey,” Parker observes.
