As the year draws to a close, I wanted to take a moment to share a little about our lives. While the world has been turned upside down, we’re managing to keep our heads above water. I hope you’re finding your own way through this chaotic time too.
Picture this: I’m perched at the kitchen table as my youngest, Charlie, is engrossed in his latest comic book, while Mia is endlessly practicing her violin scales. Meanwhile, Leo is busy constructing his latest cardboard masterpiece—a zero-emission vehicle, perhaps? Just kidding!
In 2020 terms, we’re all doing alright. It seems like everyone has been “thriving” in remote learning, right? I used to roll my eyes at those posts, but now I find solace in using them as target practice in my backyard. Who knew that childhood experiences could leave such a lasting imprint?
I must admit, I miss the traditional school experiences, but then again, maybe it’s a blessing in disguise to skip the emotional scars of those early years. I have to say, Zoom PTA meetings have their perks; I can turn off my camera and let out a little frustration without consequence.
Mark got a promotion this year, and he’s now leading a team of seven. He’s genuinely happy about it, which is refreshing. As for me, I was working on grants for local non-profits, but let’s just say the landscape has changed dramatically. It feels like I’m burning my Hamilton tickets for warmth at this point.
As we navigate this holiday season, I want to send a light-hearted warning: if you send me a holiday letter bragging about your luxurious vacation or your perfectly curated family photo, I might just show up at your door with a can of gasoline. Just kidding—mostly.
We hope this season brings you joy, laughter, and maybe a bit of mischief. If you need me, I’ll be at my new address: 45 Stress-Free Lane, Just Done, NM 45673.
Cheers!
Best,
Emma
