If you’re looking for a furry friend and possess a strong sense of humor, look no further than Prancer, a 2-year-old Chihuahua with a personality that’s as quirky as it is challenging. Described candidly as a “neurotic, man-hating, animal-hating, children-hating dog,” Prancer is currently in the care of a devoted but weary family in New Jersey, eagerly awaiting his forever home.

Tyler Johnson, the foster parent, posted on social media about Prancer’s rather unusual traits. “I believe there’s someone out there for Prancer because both my family and I are exhausted,” she shared. “He’s basically the embodiment of that Chihuahua meme that says they’re made up of 50% hate and 50% tremble.”

Prancer’s backstory is just as colorful as his character. He arrived at his foster home “obese, dressed in a cashmere sweater, and accompanied by a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich in his crate.” It turns out Prancer was previously pampered by an elderly owner who treated him more like a human and neglected to socialize him properly, leaving him wary of everyone and everything.

“During his first week, he was so frightened that he didn’t even show a personality. As terrible as it may sound, I actually preferred him that way,” Tyler added. “I’m starting to think he’s not really a dog, but more like a spirit of a traumatized Victorian child haunting our home.”

Prancer has a clear preference for women, stating, “He hates men more than most women do, which is saying something. If you’re married, don’t apply unless you’re looking for a dog that shares your disdain for him.”

Despite his quirks, Prancer has some redeeming qualities: he’s loyal, protective, and housebroken. However, he does not get along with other pets. “If you have dogs or cats, don’t apply unless you want them to be toyed with by a 13-pound ball of fury,” Tyler explained.

Oh, and children? Forget it. “He’s never encountered a child, but I can only imagine the chaos that would ensue. Prancer wants to be your only child,” she emphasized.

So, who would be the perfect match for Prancer? “He would thrive in a home with a single woman, a mother-daughter duo, or a lesbian couple,” Tyler explained. “Living in an apartment or condo is a no-go unless you want him to terrorize your neighbors.”

If you fit the criteria of being single or part of a compatible duo without kids or pets, Prancer could be yours through the Second Chance Pet Adoption League. “Oh, and just so you know, he’s only 2 years old and could live to be 21 purely out of spite, so keep that in mind,” Tyler added.
