The Pandemic Led Her to Cancel Her Wedding – Now She’s Selling It on TikTok

Once upon a time, TikTok was simply a platform for humorous videos of people dancing and lip-syncing to catchy tunes. However, it has since transformed into a hub for sharing recipes, beauty hacks, and must-have products. We’ve all seen those TikTok leggings that promise to enhance your figure, and countless women have shared their results. But the platform’s offerings go far beyond fashion.

TikTok now serves as a marketplace for almost anything, from homes to cars and even pet adoptions. One New Yorker has taken this concept to the next level by listing her wedding for sale. Yes, you read that correctly: for just $15,000, a couple in New York City can step into a fully planned wedding experience. This innovative idea was conceived by Madison Lark.

Due to the pandemic, Lark and her partner opted for a simple, intimate ceremony at her grandparents’ Massachusetts home instead of their originally scheduled wedding on September 18, 2021. With thousands of dollars tied up in deposits and a grand wedding still on the table, Lark turned to TikTok to offer a unique wedding package.

In a TikTok video that quickly went viral, racking up over 163,000 views, Lark detailed the wedding package available to a couple seeking a budget-friendly celebration in Brooklyn. The package includes 80 guest invitations, catering, beverages, floral arrangements, a photographer, and a DJ. Lark emphasized that she chose vendors who aligned with her values, including an LGBTQ-friendly photographer and an all-female DJ service that promised to avoid problematic artists. She even offered her wedding dress, provided the bride fits into it.

In a follow-up video, Lark clarified that while she’s selling a complete package, she cannot ensure the guest limit due to potential COVID-19 restrictions. If such measures are in place, the venue may have to reduce capacity to 50%, and a DJ may not be permitted. “I’m not a health expert,” she noted, reminding potential buyers that conditions could change by September 2021.

Lark initially invested between $22,000 and $23,000 for the wedding but hopes to recoup $15,000. While she prefers upfront payment, she is open to discussing installment plans. After getting approval from the vendors, she began her search for the perfect couple to take over the wedding package, carefully reviewing potential candidates based on their love stories.

When asked about the financial loss, Lark expressed, “Honestly, I’m okay with the money lost. I’m just thrilled that another couple can have their special day like we did.”

In another TikTok update, she mentioned receiving numerous inquiries and is now vetting interested couples, providing them with a detailed email about the wedding and a questionnaire to learn more about them. She emphasized the importance of a genuine connection and requested that the chosen couple document their wedding day on TikTok. Additionally, the couple will be responsible for covering taxes and gratuities, which amount to around $3,800 and are not included in the package price.

Lark addressed questions regarding her attendance at the event, stating that this is a straightforward business arrangement and that she is focused on helping another couple find joy. The pandemic has changed her perspective, and she acknowledged that the grand wedding she had planned feels like a distant memory.

“Our lives couldn’t be more different now. This wedding feels like someone else’s,” she shared in an interview.

As Lark continues her search for the lucky couple, it’s unclear who will ultimately take over the wedding plans, but it’s guaranteed that a TikTok of the event will be shared. We look forward to seeing how it all unfolds!
