I wish I had recognized that it would be the last moment you asked me to “push me HIGHER!” on the swings, or the final time I would be lovingly called ‘Mommy’ or ‘Mama’ before transitioning to just ‘Mom’ when you’re feeling particularly teenage-ish.
Life moves so fast, almost like ripping off a Band-Aid, and suddenly, you’re all grown up. I still see you as my little ones. I can still feel your tiny hearts against my chest while you sleep, blissfully unaware. I can still feel your delicate fingers intertwined with mine as we embark on our next adventure together. No matter how old you get, you will always be my babies, and I will forever be your mom.
I don’t know that I would change a thing; I just wish I had known when those moments would end.
