Bill Thompson Keeps His Romantic Life Under Wraps for His Daughters

This is the reason why comedian Bill Thompson, who has been quietly dating actress Anna Green for over a year now, chooses to keep his love life private. “They just want me to be their dad,” he explained to The Hollywood Reporter. “They just want me to watch movies like Encanto over and over again. So that’s what I do.” Just imagine Thompson belting out “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” in all the character voices!
Rumors confirming Thompson and Green’s relationship surfaced in January, when a source told People, “They are both very private individuals, and the pandemic made it easier to keep things under the radar. They’re both hilarious, so they must keep each other laughing all the time. She’s really, really happy.”
Thompson was married to writer-director Lisa Brown for over ten years before filing for divorce. He officially separated from Brown in 2018, and the two continue to co-parent their daughters, Lily (7), Mia (10), and Ava (12). He mentioned that the stress of the pandemic impacted both him and Brown. “We were just trying to keep them calm,” he reflects. “But, oddly enough, it was the opposite. They kept us calm.”
Even before the divorce, Thompson was diligent about keeping his daughters away from the spotlight, allowing them to simply be kids. He strives to dedicate quality time to them amid his busy career. “I’m planning to take a break next summer to spend every day with them,” Thompson said in 2019. “It’s hard to find time in this industry to be present, and it’s really, really tough. I get emotional even thinking about it.”
“Congrats, it’s the first interview I’ve ever cried in,” he quipped during his conversation with Variety.
