Totally adorable!
Introducing the newest Gerber Baby, Lila, who is capturing hearts everywhere with her charm. At just seven months old, Lila Johnson from Texas has irresistibly chubby cheeks, long eyelashes, and a radiant smile. Notably, she is the first baby in Gerber’s 95-year history to have a limb difference. Her parents are optimistic that this visibility will foster awareness and educate others as Lila steps into her role as the official Gerber spokesbaby.
Lila’s Mission as Chief Growing Officer
As the newest Chief Growing Officer (CGO) of Gerber, Lila’s mission is to spread joy, showcasing her vibrant smile, infectious giggles, and delightful personality. The announcement was made on TODAY, where hosts celebrated her win live on air, chatting with her parents, Sarah and Mike. “Lila is a brave little girl who loves to engage with the world, and nothing holds her back,” her mother shared on TODAY. “Her smile brightens every room, and her laughter is simply contagious.”
Family Life and Hopes for the Future
Lila enjoys playing with her favorite stuffed animal and spending time with her older sibling, Grace, who is four. She also loves raspberries, being cradled by her mom, and feeling the wind on her face. Her parents hope Lila’s story will convey a message of diversity and inclusion. “From the moment she was born in October 2021, we knew Lila was extraordinary, and she teaches us that every day,” Sarah explained on the Gerber website. “We discovered during my pregnancy that Lila would be born without a femur or fibula in her right leg. We aspire for Lila’s journey to enhance awareness about limb differences and promote inclusion for children like her. Just like Lila, they can achieve anything they set their minds to!”
Celebrating Diversity
This year, over 225,000 entries were submitted for the contest, which is open to children under four years old in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. The winner received $25,000, which will be allocated for Lila’s medical care. “What makes this moment special is that she was selected not only for her delightful personality and smile but also as a representative of diversity,” Sarah told TODAY. “We are grateful that she might help raise awareness for children with limb differences, which is incredibly meaningful to us.”
Gerber is also donating an additional $25,000 to the March of Dimes’ maternal and infant health programs. For even more adorable photos of Lila, check out TODAY.
