In a delightful announcement, dance professionals Jenna Smith and Victor Chmerkovskiy from “Dancing with the Stars” revealed that they are expecting their first child. The couple shared their joyful news on Friday, accompanied by a stunning maternity photo session.
“The surprise and disbelief were overwhelming,” Smith, 28, shared with People about this new adventure. “It wasn’t an easy journey for us to conceive, but everyone kept saying that when you relax and stop stressing, things happen. That’s exactly what occurred. It feels like our little one was created with so much love. It’s truly magical.”
Smith, who is due in January 2023, recounted the moment they learned about the pregnancy, which happened during a birthday getaway to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, in April. “We returned home, and a couple of weeks later, I noticed my body felt different. I took a pregnancy test, and it instantly showed positive,” she explained.
To surprise Chmerkovskiy, 36, Smith presented him with a pair of baby sneakers cleverly hidden in a regular-sized Nike box. “He opened the box, looked at the tiny shoes, and his expression was priceless when it clicked!” she recalled.
Smith expressed her excitement about seeing Chmerkovskiy, who is already a beloved uncle, transition into fatherhood. “He’s so selfless, loving, and patient; I can’t wait to see him as a dad,” she said.
While Chmerkovskiy aims to participate in the upcoming Season 31 of “Dancing with the Stars”, Smith has decided to focus on her health throughout her first trimester. “I love dancing and staying active, but right now, my priority is the baby and embracing these changes,” she noted. “I’m learning to enjoy downtime and give my body the rest it needs.”
