Is Anyone Else Finding This a Bit Much?

Every morning, I wrangle my little ones into their car seats, and off we go to preschool and kindergarten, jamming to the latest Top 40 hits. We’ll listen to whatever comes on, and as long as the rhythm is right and the melody catchy, we’re all in. I don’t stress about lyrics—my kids are still so young that they hardly catch the innuendos and often mispronounce the words anyway. At home, our dance party playlist includes a few cheeky tracks (like “Peacock” by Katy Perry and “I Love It” by Icona Pop), and I once even burned a CD for daycare without realizing I’d included the explicit versions instead of the radio edits. Definitely not my finest parenting moment!

While I usually don’t fuss over lyrics, there’s one song that makes me cringe every time I hear it, which is unfortunately often, given how much it’s played on the radio:

“Gonna wear that dress you like, skin-tight
Do my hair up real, real nice
And syncopate my skin to your heart beating
‘Cause I just wanna look good for you, good for you”
– “Good for You”
