Hey there, fellow iPad parents!
I see you over there in the restaurant, maybe with your partner or just hanging out with your little one. You’re having a genuine conversation—about something other than Minecraft or YouTube. Or perhaps you’re quietly lost in thought, while your child is engrossed in their own digital world, screen lighting up their face.
Let me tell you something: I’m not judging you. I totally get it. I see you because I’m right there with you. It’s tough to carve out even a few precious moments to connect with another adult amidst the whirlwind of parenting. And when we do manage that connection? It feels amazing—like pouring water on a thirsty plant. It’s nourishing for our souls. Sharing stories, listening to one another, laughing together—these moments are invaluable.
The Monotony of Parenting
Parenting can become a monotonous cycle. We wake up, go to work, come home exhausted, and then it’s all about the kids—baths, cooking (which I might use the term loosely), and stories about characters I barely understand. We tuck our little ones into bed, loving them fiercely, and then we crash. We binge-watch TV, scroll through social media, and let another day slip by without truly connecting with the adults we care about, or even with ourselves. Both kinds of connections are vital, maybe even essential to living our best lives.
Embracing Screen Time
So, when those rare moments come where you can catch up with a friend or family member, it’s okay to give your child a tablet or a handheld game to keep them occupied. Sure, we need to set limits on screen time and encourage manners—like looking up from their devices while ordering food—but don’t feel guilty for taking some much-needed time for yourself. You do so much for your kids and showing them love is what counts. So, when you hand over that iPad, remember—you’re doing a great job. You’re the “Parent of the Year” for that meal out, and you deserve to celebrate that!
Let’s Ditch the Guilt
Let’s ditch the guilt and recognize that being a great parent means enriching our own lives too. Sound like a plan?

In Summary
Let’s support each other in recognizing that we all need moments to recharge. Being a fantastic parent means taking time for ourselves, too. Cheers to that!
