What New Flavor Madness Is This, Oreo?

Who is behind those bizarre Oreo flavors, and what are they thinking?

You know what would pair perfectly? Oreos and Swedish Fish. Said no one—ever.

In what could only be interpreted as a desperate plea for assistance, the genius behind Oreo’s flavor innovations has presented us with the latest head-scratcher: Swedish Fish Oreos. The food blog The Flavor Detectives managed to snag a pack and described the filling as “sticky, chewy,” and even “slimy.” Delicious, right?

A representative explained to Business Insider, “We understand that consumers love a variety in their snacking experiences. That’s why we create limited-edition flavors that give surprising new twists on the classics, and sometimes we venture into the unexpected and unique flavor combinations that might just boggle the mind.”

But who exactly is making these decisions, and why do they appear to have a vendetta against our taste buds? Food.com gathered a list of Oreo flavors that definitely support the theory that someone at Nabisco might need an intervention or, at the very least, a good vacation.

Take the Watermelon “flavor creme.” Honestly, a few seeds would have made it even worse. Who hurt you, Nabisco?

Imagine the executive meeting:

Exec #1: What’s that Halloween candy everyone despises?
Exec #2: Candy Corn?
Exec #1: Perfect! Meeting adjourned. Happy hour awaits!

Let’s transform an unheard-of ice cream flavor into a cookie that no one wants to eat!

And here are more signs that things might be amiss at Oreo headquarters:

There should only be one kind of Oreo: Double Stuff. Period. Double Stuff Oreos should be the standard, regular Oreos should be labeled as “diet,” and Oreo Thins? They should vanish from existence! Whoever is conjuring these flavors needs a serious break.

Stop tinkering with perfection!
